I was a Senior Executive turned Emotional Healer & Coach. In corporate world, it’s very common to hear that emotions have no place in business world, we have to be professional. Feeling emotional is not professional. Perhaps this is one of the reason why so many top executives and business leaders are suffering from emotional distress, as there’s no place for them to off load their emotional baggage.
As an Emotional Coach I work with many executives & business owners, that’s how I know how much struggle they are going through emotionally and internally. Many people forget that they are human, we are not a robot or machine. We must understand that we all feel emotions, its part of what makes us human. They are inseparable and deeply rooted in our human brain as long as we breath. In fact, many scientists proven that we would not be able to make effective decisions without our emotions.
Emotions play a HUGE part in every part of our day to day life, in every situation, and in all areas of our lives. Basically, a little of emotion can motivate or push us forward. But if our emotional response lacks balance or not being manage / express healthily, we can make decisions or take actions that will bring undesired outcome in our business, our personal life and affect our physical health.
To make sure that you don’t unleash your anger or frustration to anyone in your business or to your clients (and family as well), you need to take a step back and examine the source of your emotions before you act on them. Most of the time our emotions don’t come from the recent event that happened to us, but have been stemmed inside of us for long enough, sometimes decades.
Let me give you an example here, one of the case study from my client, let’s say you had a fight with your spouse a night before, that affected your sleep. Then the next morning you woke up with a bad mood. When you were on the way to the office, there was a huge traffic, and you immediately felt annoyed, frustrated, or even angry. Your emotions started to bubble up, feeling impatient. Now you arrived in the office, one of your co-worker made a little mistake at work, you suddenly felt irritated and you couldn’t hold on to that anymore, you reacted negatively (or maybe aggressively) on that co-worker, magnified that little mistake to huge mistake, without knowing it’s not really his /her fault, it’s unlikely because of that person said or did something wrong, but very likely it’s because of your fight with your spouse the night before haven’t been resolved, and you still carrying that negative feeling and emotion without knowing it, that manifesting more in your reality. And little did you know, that fight may caused by something happened long before, maybe since your childhood etc… Did you get what I mean? Can you relate to it?
Managing your own emotions can be difficult when it needs your awareness and calmness, especially for men. Men were taught and hardwired not to express their emotions as it often seen as weak. Because of that, many men neglect to show their emotions. This kind of beliefs need to be changed.
Emotional Management plays a huge part in all decision making process, and it’s one of the key success factor to all businesses. One way to deal with negative emotions is to meditate. You can practice meditation few minutes a day that will allow you to process your unresolved emotions. It can also help you shift your mental and emotional state that gives you clarity while making important decisions, it can also help improve your relationship with your loved one and others. Most importantly, to optimize your physical health and quantum grow your business.
